Marine village, situated on the coast of Empordà and to the south of the Gulf of Roses. The coast sector extends from the so-called “grauet of Empúries” (the old mouth of the river Fluvià) on the north, to the promontory of Montgó to the south. L´Escala offers a great diversity of landscapes and settlements: modern centers near the sea, the old village of la Escala itself, the medieval town of St. Martí d´Empúries and other small fortified towns of great rural character such as: Cinc Claus, the residents of Les Corts, Vilanera and Riegos.
